does homeopathy work?
Two key principles.
Homeopaths
use minimal doses of specifically prepared non-toxic
substances to accomplish deep healing. A natural compound
may be diluted many, many times during preparation. The
natural compound becomes a stronger potency the more times
it is deleted.
The fact that an infinitesimal dose can be an effective
treatment is hard for westerners to understand, and sometimes
must be experienced to be believed. It’s not a placebo
effect; homeopathy works on babies and animals, who are
unaffected by placebos. These remedies have been effective
for over 200 years and are used commonly throughout the
world today.
Operating
under the principle of “like cures like,” the
concept is that any substance that can make you ill can also
cure you of similar symptoms if given in a homeopathic
dose. For example, coffee keeps you awake, but a homeopathic
dose of coffea will help if you have symptoms similar to
having had too much coffee, such as feeling wired or jittery.
Coffea also helps if you actually have had too much coffee
and can't sleep.
